Jessica had TOO many great options

“I found my incredible designer through INABC.com and I couldn’t be happier. She responded to my brief with her examples and, immediately, I was blown away by the quality of her work.

Once we started working together, she provided so many amazing options for my cover that it was hard for me to choose a direction since they were all so amazing. The cover we landed on matches the themes and details of my story so perfectly. Luísa made my dream cover a reality.”

Nikki received 16 bids!

When it came to publishing my debut novel, having a high-quality cover was the top priority. It was incredibly important to me as someone with an interest in graphic design. INABC truly delivered on that front. I am grateful for the access to a talented pool of designers. Posting on the Jobs Board made it easy for me to choose among designers and visions for the book. My book was a challenge because it is about space but I didn’t want it to convey hard science fiction, rather something more literary. Zoe was attentive throughout the process and I’m so glad to have a beautiful cover.

“Well worth the investment”

“This was my first book, and the self-publishing process felt overwhelming. I knew I wanted a high-quality cover but had no idea where to begin—and by that stage of the project, decision fatigue had set in. Thankfully, a client introduced me to INABC, and it was exactly what I needed. The beautiful covers on the website caught my attention right away, and Zoe’s guidance in crafting a creative brief gave me clarity about my vision. Her practical tips for evaluating designers, along with the extra hands-on support, made the selection process much easier. It was well worth the investment.

Working with my designer, Beth, was a joy. She was intuitive, responsive to feedback, and captured my vision perfectly. The multiple cover mock-ups she presented were stunning and after such a positive experience, I confidently asked her to design the interior as well. Beyond her artistic talent, Beth’s project management skills kept everything on track.

I’m deeply grateful to both Beth and Zoe for helping transform this book from an idea into reality.”

From 10 great candidates to a single winning match

“I assumed finding a book cover designer would be straightforward, but it was a lot more challenging than I expected. I spent hours on various freelance platforms, carefully vetting designers, reviewing portfolios, and having detailed conversations to make sure we were on the same page—only to be disappointed, time after time. After going through three different designers who couldn’t bring my vision to life, I realized I needed a platform that specialized in experienced, vetted book cover designers.

Then I found INeedABookCover.com, and it was exactly what I’d been looking for. The process helped me refine my vision and communicate it clearly. After posting my project, I received over ten inquiries from designers, all of whom had relevant experience in book cover design. This allowed me to choose someone who truly understood the level of detail and creativity I was aiming for.

INeedABookCover.com made it easy to connect with the right designer, and I finally got the professional, high-quality cover I’d been hoping for. Highly recommend!”

Success at last!

“When I started looking for a cover designer, I looked everywhere. INABC stood out immediately for its direct access to top-quality talent. The designers listed here have worked on some of my favorite covers. Since my book combines science fiction and political satire, I knew it might be a design challenge, and I needed a designer who could collaborate with me on a standout cover. Thankfully, that’s exactly what I found on INABC. I love the cover Matt designed—it’s been a great experience, I’ve learned a lot, and I look forward to using the platform again for future projects.”

C. Cree received nearly 40 responses to her brief.

“In a way, cover design is more important than the book itself because potential readers won’t look closer if the cover isn’t engaging. And if the cover is a mismatch to the book, readers could be unhappy with the story they find inside even if the book is good.

The cover design for my first book was a challenge: a true crime, biographical, historical fiction, mystery with touches of horror. I had no idea where to find designers who could handle the job until someone recommended INeedABookCover.

The submission process at INABC was simple and straightforward, and helped me clarify my tastes and needs. I received almost 40 responses in the first week, from designers with portfolios showcasing many different and compelling styles.

I hired a designer a week later and am thrilled with the final design.”

Designer Requirements

Only a carefully curated group of designers are given access to the creative briefs posted on the INABC Jobs Board. This system ensures that clients receive top-notch, focused proposals from professionals whose talents have been vetted

All designers who will be bidding on your cover design have applied to receive job notifications and have been approved by the INABC admin team. Our approved designers:

  • Are professional book cover designers, not simply generalist graphic designers.
  • Have been working in the industry for a minimum of 3 years, usually more.
  • Must demonstrate a contemporary aesthetic, creating work that feels current and relevant to today’s book design market. We seek professionals who stay informed on industry trends while pushing boundaries with innovative, forward-thinking designs. Our designers know that our clients are not looking for designs that feel “dated.”
  • Regularly and consistently work on multiple book cover projects each month. Over years of designing at this pace, they’ve built portfolios showcasing a substantial body of published work (at least 16 covers for review).
  • Are committed to delivering high-quality, original designs tailored to each client’s unique vision.
  • Do NOT sell or offer book cover premades. At INABC, we do not condone the offering of pre-made book covers. We are fans of highly bespoke cover work.
  • Do NOT use AI-generated imagery in their commercial work.
  • Have accessible online portfolios showcasing book cover work that are easy for anyone to review.
  • Have extensive experience working with self-publishing authors AND commercial presses.
  • Are available and excited to receive these weekly briefs.

If you are contacted by a designer that doesn’t align with the requirements described above, we ask that you please contact the INABC admin team at ineedabookcover.assistant@gmail.com.

Designer Disclaimer

INABC is not a full-service design agency. It’s a curated directory designed to help visitors identify the designers behind some pretty amazing book covers.

If you reach out to a talented designer from this site, INABC does not take responsibility for the professional interactions that may follow. Each designer in our directory sets their own proposals and contracts. We encourage you to review a designer’s portfolio carefully to make sure they’re a good fit for your project and to communicate your expectations clearly with your chosen designer. Designers and clients are expected to draft, negotiate, and sign their own contracts to ensure that expectations, deliverables, and rights are clearly outlined before any work begins.

While we do our best to curate a talented community, INABC is not involved in the collaborations that follow, and, therefore, we cannot guarantee the outcome of individual projects with specific designers. If you run into an issue with a designer that you find from using INABC, we are open to learning about your experience, but ultimately, INABC will not be involved in any specific disputes.
