Hansen’s journey into the world of book cover design began somewhat serendipitously when she met the creative director of Penguin at a party. After stunning the staff through her work on a few freelance projects, she was offered a position as a junior designer position at Penguin. She eventually became a senior designer at Riverhead books before moving over to Knopf.
Janet Hansen’s work has been widely recognized and featured by notable organizations and platforms such as AIGA, Artsy, It’s Nice That, The New York Times, and the Type Directors Club. She is also a professor of graphic design at her alma mater, the School of Visual Arts, in NYC.
