Nick Misani

Designer, Letterer

Nick Misani is a UK-based book designer and letterer with a practice rooted in historically informed typography and contemporary visual storytelling.

He was an in-house designer at Penguin Random House for several years and has since collaborated with leading publishers including PRH, Knopf, Abrams, and Simon & Schuster, bringing a refined, editorially minded approach to book design. Before entering the publishing world, Nick served as a senior designer at Louise Fili Ltd., the renowned studio known for its lettering and typography.

His work draws from decorative arts and traditional craft, often reimagined in unexpected, modern ways. Trained in architecture and industrial design in Italy, he went on to earn an MFA in Communications Design from Pratt Institute. His work has been recognized by the Art Directors Club, Type Directors Club, AIGA, and Communication Arts, and he has shared his expertise as a guest lecturer at Pratt Institute, Parsons, and SVA.

Nick also created Fauxsaics (a personal project exploring travel through typographic mosaic illustrations). The series gained wide recognition and has been highlighted by more than 50 design publications (including DesignBoom). For more information, read this Q&A with Nick from Print Mag
