Example Book Cover Descriptions
Without going into each individual cover, I like that many/most of these imply a certain timeless wisdom or technical blueprint for the subject, which gives authority to the book. At the same time, though, the covers standout on a shelf, due to interesting font, or pop of color, or other interesting / unexpected design elements that imply a certain modern way of thinking… in other words, timeless wisdom for modern humans.
Wrong Direction Book Cover Descriptions
In general these covers are either boring, whimsical, old fashioned covers are not the direction.
We are looking for a certain weight and seriousness, but with a modern touch.
We are not looking for an unserious, trite, or dull take on life and success.
General Likes & Overall Vision
I want the title to domindate the page, but leaving enough room for an image that is both interesting and relevant to the book (the blueprint of a home may be the best direction here, since the author was a homebuilder — but welcome to other ideas).
Colors used for the last edition (navy, white) should be used, but with a fresh spin and perhaps the introduction a new color
Dislikes & Things to Avoid
Open to the artists interpretation of the subject matter, but in general we’re looking for a cover that will stand out to a young audience…. but also conveys a certain degree of seriousness and timelessness. Greek columns were used on the last edition, for example.
