Synopsis
The year is 1779 and the war for American Independence has raged on for four years. France has joined as an ally, but when the masks are removed, nothing is at is seems, and no one may be trusted. As Annalisa dons her guise as Benjamin Cavendish one more time, her secret becomes entangled in a spy ring that threatens to send her and those she loves to the gallows. When she is faced with impossible choices, will martyrdom be worth it?
In this final installment of the Muskets Trilogy, Annalisa, Jack, and George navigate the devastation of war, espionage, secrecy, and romance.
Example Book Cover Descriptions
I love the 18th century style design of Hanging Ruth Blay. It reminds me of the artwork of the 18th century, and also the hanging of the girl is indicative of what happens in my story.
The Indigo Girls cover is beautiful, I love the watercolor design and that she looks like a silhouette of the 18th century style girl in a dress. I also love the colors.
Wrong Direction Book Cover Descriptions
Any cover that has photographs of people is not the right look. It’s especially bad when they are wearing the wrong clothing for the time period.
General Likes & Overall Vision
- I would love something that looks 18th century and historically accurate to the time.
- I think it would be nice to include a noose, but it’s not essential.
- There is a large, ancient oak tree that is important throughout each of the three books, so an old, gnarled tree is another good graphic option.
- The main character doesn’t have to be present on the cover, but if she is, a silhouette could work nicely, a profile view, or a view of her back. She could be dressed in men’s clothing (to be discussed)
- I would like the cover to echo sentiments of the American Revolutionary War
Dislikes & Things to Avoid
I hate photographs of people on book covers.
